  • Amending your personal information on your application, including your name, contact details, gender or address.
  • Requesting a replacement offer letter or a letter to support a funding application.
  • Understanding your offer conditions.

Your application

Undergraduate applications

We guarantee that we will consider all undergraduate applications received by Wednesday 13 January 2027. We will continue to consider applications after this date for programmes that still have places available.

However, we recommend applying as early as possible, as some programmes may close when they are full.

Postgraduate applications

There is no general application deadline for most postgraduate programmes unless a specific deadline is listed on the programme page.

We encourage you to apply as early as possible, particularly if your programme requires an interview, portfolio or has fitness to train requirements.

Please make sure to check your programme page for any specific deadlines or additional requirements using the course finder.

PGCE applications

There is no fixed application deadline for PGCE programmes. Applications remain open until all our places are filled, so we recommend applying as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Please check your programme page for any specific application requirements.

Most applications take around 4鈥6 weeks from submission to a decision. The time taken may vary depending on your programme, the time of year and whether additional assessment is required.

Applications for programmes involving interviews, auditions or portfolio reviews may take longer. PhD applications can also take longer than six weeks.

Some programmes have specific decision dates or application deadlines. Please check your programme page for details using the course finder.

If you have not received a decision after 6 weeks, you can contact us using the contact form.

We may need additional documents to assess your application or confirm that you meet the requirements of your chosen programme.

Depending on your circumstances and the programme you have applied for, these may include:

  • Qualification certificates or transcripts
  • English language test results
  • References or other supporting evidence
  • A portfolio of work
  • Information about your relevant work experience
  • Additional forms or questionnaires

If we request additional documents, please follow the instructions provided and submit them by any stated deadline. If you are unsure which documents are required or how to submit them, please contact us.

Portfolios

Some programmes require a portfolio of work before we can consider your application. Please check your programme webpage using the鈥course finder鈥痑nd refer to the 'How to Apply鈥 section for specific instructions.

If you are applying for an Art or Design programme, you can also read our guidance on submitting a portfolio.

Some programmes require an interview or audition as part of the admissions process.

If you are invited to attend, we will provide information about the next steps, including any relevant dates, arrangements and other things you need to prepare.

Please check your email regularly, including your junk or spam folder, so that you do not miss our invitation.

If you are unable to attend a scheduled interview or assessment, or require an adjustment to help you participate, please contact us as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee that alternative arrangements will be available, but we will advise you on the options.

If you need to update your personal details or make a change to your application after submitting it, please contact us.

This may include:

  • Changing your name, address or contact details
  • Requesting a change to your course choice
  • Asking to defer your entry to a later year
  • Withdrawing your application

Some changes may not be possible or may depend on the programme and stage of the admissions process. Please contact us as soon as possible so that we can advise you on the options available.

When contacting us, please select 'make a change to my application' on the contact form on this page.

We will communicate the outcome of your application to your email address. Please make sure to add @gold.ac.uk emails to your safe senders list so that you receive our emails and make sure to check your junk/spam folder.

If you receive an offer

Read your offer letter carefully to understand any conditions you need to meet and the deadlines that apply. You may need to provide further evidence, such as qualification certificates, English language test results or meet the fitness to train requirements.

Your offer letter contains useful information about the next steps, and other information about the terms and conditions of your offer.

If you have questions about your offer conditions, please contact us using the contact form.

If you are waiting for a decision

Some applications take longer to assess than others, particularly where interviews, portfolio reviews or additional checks are required. Please refer to the guidance above on decision timescales.

If your application is unsuccessful

We understand that this may be disappointing. If you would like feedback about your application, please email applicant-feedback@gold.ac.uk quoting your full name and student reference number.

Please note that we can only respond to feedback requests at this address. If you have other questions, please contact us using the contact form.

Entry requirements

Our academic entry requirements vary depending on the programme you wish to study. These requirements help us assess your previous qualifications, knowledge and preparedness for your chosen course.

We welcome applications from applicants with a range of educational backgrounds, and we encourage you to check the specific entry requirements for your chosen programme before applying.

Entry requirements are listed on each programme page. If you do not meet the published entry requirements, we will consider your application in full before advising you of the options available.

Undergraduate programmes

Entry requirements for undergraduate programmes vary and typically include Level 3 qualifications such as A-levels, BTECS, T-Levels, Access to HE Diplomas, or equivalent.

Some programmes may also require specific subjects, grades or additional qualifications such as a GCSE (or equivalent), or an Art and Design foundation.

We consider a range of qualifications and educational backgrounds. Please check the entry requirements for your chosen programme to understand the qualifications and grades you will need.

Postgraduate programmes

Entry requirements for postgraduate programmes depend on the course and level of study. Applicants will normally be expected to hold an undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification.

Some programmes may specify a minimum degree classification, relevant professional experience or other course-specific requirements.

Please refer to the individual programme page for details of the academic qualifications and any additional requirements needed to support your application.

PGCE programmes

Entry requirements for PGCE programmes include an undergraduate honours degree, and GCSE (or equivalent) in English, maths, and science (for PGCE Primary subjects). Depending on the PGCE subject, applicants may also need to evidence relevant subject knowledge.

Applicants must also meet our fitness to train requirements. If you are made an offer, we will provide full instructions.

International qualifications

We welcome applications from students with qualifications from outside the UK. International qualifications are assessed to determine their equivalence to UK entry requirements and their suitability for your chosen programme.

Entry requirements vary depending on the course and the qualifications you have completed. You may be asked to provide official transcripts, certificates or certified translations where applicable.

Please check the individual programme page for specific entry requirements using the course finder. If you are unsure whether your qualifications meet our requirements, our admissions team will be happy to advise you.

We consider every application individually, taking into account your qualifications, experience and personal circumstances. If you don鈥檛 meet our standard entry requirements, we may still be able to consider your application or suggest alternative programmes where appropriate.

We recognise that everyone鈥檚 educational journey is different. We take into account contextual information that may have affected your education, as well as the skills and experience that you have gained outside of education.

We also welcome applications from mature applicants and would encourage you to go into detail about your work and life experience to support your application.

If you鈥檙e unsure whether you meet the entry requirements, we encourage you to get in touch with our admissions team using the contact form to discuss your circumstances and the options available to you.

If you require a visa to study, we typically cannot lower or waive the English language requirements of the programme.

Extenuating circumstances

We understand that circumstances beyond your control can sometimes have a significant impact on your education and academic performance.

If personal circumstances have affected your academic results, we encourage you to let us know as part of your application, if possible. We will consider the information you provide sensitively, taking into account your individual circumstances and your academic achievements so far.

We encourage you to contact us if you would like to discuss your application or learn about what support may be available. You can find further information by reading the Extenuating circumstances for applicants policy (PDF).

If English is not your first language, or your offer includes an English language condition, you will need to provide evidence that you meet our English language requirements.

You can find details of accepted English language qualifications, required scores and validity periods on our website.

Please check that your qualification meets the requirements for your programme and remains valid at the start of your programme.

If you are unsure whether your qualification will be accepted, or need advice about providing evidence of your results, please contact the Admissions team as soon as possible using the contact form.

Some programmes, including PGCE programmes and those involving placements, have additional fitness to train conditions which you must complete before you can enrol.

These checks can take time to complete, so it is important to start the process as soon as you receive the relevant instructions, links and forms.

We usually send fitness to train instructions from March in the year your programme starts. If you receive your offer after March, we will normally send the relevant information with your offer letter.

Please follow the instructions provided and complete each stage as soon as possible. If you have not received the information you need, or have questions about the process, please contact us by replying to your offer letter.

Your offer

Once you receive an offer, check your offer letter carefully to understand the conditions of your offer and whether you need to take any further action.

A conditional offer means you need to meet specific requirements before your place can be confirmed. An unconditional offer means you have met the admission conditions specified in our entry criteria.

If you have received an offer, check your offer letter carefully to understand the offer conditions you need to meet and any deadlines.

We recommend meeting your conditions as soon as possible after receiving your offer. This ensures that you have plenty of time to prepare for enrolment and receive relevant information about the start of your programme.

If you are waiting for your final academic results over the summer, you should still work on any other outstanding conditions in the meantime. These may include English language requirements, fitness to train checks or evidence of relevant work experience.

Some checks can take several weeks or longer to complete, so please do not wait until your academic results arrive before starting to meet them.

If you are unsure how to meet an offer condition or are concerned that you may not meet a deadline, please contact the Admissions team as soon as possible using the contact form.

You will need to provide evidence of your qualifications to meet the academic conditions of your offer. The documents required will depend on your programme, the qualifications you have completed, and the conditions stated in your offer letter.

Please check your offer letter to see which documents you need to provide and whether any specific deadlines apply. These may include qualification certificates, academic transcripts or other evidence of your results.

International qualifications

If you have studied outside the UK and your qualification documents are not in English, you will need to provide translated copies of your qualifications. These must be translated by an official translation service.

How to submit your documents

You can upload documents to your account if you have already registered. Otherwise, please send documents in an email reply to your offer letter (ideally in PDF format). Ensure that your documents are clear and legible (scans or photos are acceptable) and include any required translations where applicable.

If your results are delayed, you are unable to obtain your documents or you are unsure what evidence you need to provide, please contact the Admissions team as soon as possible using the contact form or by replying to your offer letter.

If your circumstances change after receiving an offer, you can contact us to request a change, defer your entry to a later entry point or withdraw your application.

Requesting to defer your offer

We will consider requests to defer your entry, although we cannot guarantee that every request will be approved. To make a request, please contact us using the contact form and selecting the option 'deferring my application/offer'.

Completing our form will forward your request to the relevant admissions team. We aim to reply to requests within 5-10 working days, though this may take longer if we need the approval of an Admissions Tutor.

If you have already enrolled, you will need to contact the Student Hub to request an interruption.

Requesting to withdraw your offer

If you wish to withdraw your offer and have not completed enrolment, please let us know as soon as possible by using the contact form and selecting the option for 'making a change to my application'.

We will let you know once we have withdrawn your place.

If you have already enrolled, you will need to contact the Student Hub.

Requesting to change your programme

Depending on the programmes involved and your circumstances, we may be able to transfer your offer to your preferred programme. In other cases, we may need further information from you, or you may need to submit a new application.

Please note that a change of programme is not guaranteed and may depend on the entry requirements and availability of places on your preferred programme.

If you would like to change to a different programme, please contact the Admissions team to discuss your options, by completing the contact form and selecting 'making a change to my application'. Please provide as much detail as possible, including which programme you would like to transfer to.

If you have already enrolled, you will need to contact the Student Hub.

What you need to do next depends on whether you have applied for an undergraduate or postgraduate programme and whether your offer is conditional or unconditional.
